Blue Minds Sailing harnesses the scientifically proven healing power of water to help veterans and civilians overcome anxiety, depression, and PTSD — one sail at a time.
The Blue Mind Theory, pioneered by marine biologist Wallace J. Nichols, demonstrates that proximity to water induces a mildly meditative state — reducing stress hormones, calming the nervous system, and elevating mood. For veterans carrying the invisible weight of PTSD, anxiety, and depression, the ocean offers something no pill can replicate.
Blue Minds Sailing was founded on this science and on the lived testimonies of veterans who found peace on the water. We combine evidence-based therapies — including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) — with the restorative power of sailing to create a holistic healing community open to all.

The ocean gave me back the peace I lost overseas.

Research published in Military Medicine confirms that Mindfulness-Based Therapeutic Sailing significantly reduces PTSD symptoms, depression, and substance use among veterans. The VA has recognized sailing adventure therapy as a promising complementary treatment.
At Blue Minds Sailing, we honor every branch and every background. Our programs are designed to be accessible, culturally inclusive, and trauma-informed — welcoming Black, Latino, White, and all veterans into a community of shared healing.
